The S08 is the HQS low speed dental handpiece set for veterinary dental units. It has a 1:1 ratio and a wrench chuck, takes burs of φ2.345–2.355 mm, runs at 0.28–0.35 MPa working air pressure, reaches a rotation speed of at least 18,000 rpm, has a circlip water spray and a noise level of 70 dB or less. Low speed handpieces come in straight and curved (contra-angle) forms: the straight handpiece is used outside the mouth for grinding and polishing, the curved one inside the mouth. The S13 high speed handpiece is the other HQS option: it takes φ1.595–1.600 mm burs at 0.2–0.3 MPa (0.22 MPa preferred) and turns at 350,000–400,000 rpm with a single water spray. Choose the S08 for polishing, finishing and slower cutting; add an S13 when you need high-speed cutting for extractions and sectioning teeth.
