Veterinary Defibrillators

Choose a veterinary defibrillator by what it must do besides delivering the shock. The DEF-8000 series shares biphasic defibrillation from 0 to 360 J; the models differ in whether ECG or multiparameter monitoring, synchronous mode and a recorder are built in, and in battery type. Animal use needs veterinary ECG leads and, where fitted, an animal SpO2 probe and NIBP cuffs, so check these accessories in the quotation.

How to compare and shortlist models

  • Decide whether you need a stand-alone defibrillator or one with ECG or multiparameter monitoring and a recorder.
  • Confirm synchronous (cardioversion) mode, the energy settings and the paddles supplied for your patients.
  • Ask for veterinary ECG leads, SpO2 probe and NIBP cuffs sized for animals, and list optional AED mode separately.
  • Check battery type, mains voltage, the operating manual and training before ordering; resuscitation protocols remain with your veterinary team.

Compare DEF-8000A, DEF-8000C and DEF-8000D defibrillators

All three are biphasic manual external defibrillators with 12 energy settings from 0 to 360 J and a charge time under 10 seconds to 360 J. They differ in what is built in besides the shock: DEF-8000A is a defibrillator only, with a lead-acid battery; DEF-8000D adds ECG monitoring, synchronous mode and a recorder on lithium batteries; DEF-8000C adds ECG, NIBP, SpO2, temperature and pulse monitoring on a 7-inch colour display.
