The DEF-8000A is the basic HQS veterinary defibrillator: a non-synchronized external defibrillator with sine-wave biphasic technology and reusable external paddles, without ECG monitoring or a recorder. Energy is selected in fixed steps — 0, 3, 5, 7, 10, 20, 30, 50, 100, 200, 300 and 360 J, nominal at a 50 Ω load — so the low steps cover small patients and the high steps large animals. Charging to 360 J takes less than 10 seconds. It runs from the mains (110 V, 60 Hz or 220 V, 50 Hz), from a 12 V DC vehicle supply, or from its sealed rechargeable internal lead-acid battery, which charges fully in 3.5 hours and gives 35 shocks at 360 J. Choose it when you need a simple shock-only unit that can also work in a vehicle; if you also want ECG monitoring and a printed record, compare the DEF-8000D.
