Its microprocessor controller holds the cabinet at 2–8 °C with 0.1 °C accuracy, and frost-free forced-air cooling with cold air blown back across the cabinet keeps the temperature even. The door is double-layer hollow LOW-E glass to prevent condensation. A built-in backup battery keeps the temperature display and the audible and visual alarms working for up to 8 hours without mains power; the four alarms are high/low temperature, power failure, thermostat failure and door ajar. A keyboard lock with password protects the settings, and if the controller or both sensors fail the cooling keeps running on its remembered cycle.
